WS-23 activates cold-sensitive TRPM8 sensory receptors in peripheral nerve endings, generating a cooling perception without actual reduction in tissue temperature. The mechanism is sensory receptor agonism rather than evaporation. Its onset and profile differ from menthol and from other WS-series coolants, allowing tailored sensory design.
Formulation Guidelines
Pre-dissolve in ethanol, propylene glycol, suitable glycols, fragrance oils, or another compatible carrier. Do not add crystalline WS-23 directly to water.
