Description

Description

ProLipid 141-Type Lamellar Blend is a multi-lipid emulsifier and structuring system designed to form lamellar gel networks that mimic aspects of the organized lipid architecture of the stratum corneum. The blend combines fatty alcohols, fatty acids, glyceryl stearate, and lecithin to create rich but organized emulsions.

Mechanism of Action / Technical Function

During emulsification and cooling, amphiphilic lipids organize into multilamellar structures around water and oil domains. These lamellae increase yield stress, reduce droplet mobility, and contribute to a cushiony, barrier-like sensory profile. The mechanism is therefore interfacial self-assembly plus crystalline lipid-network formation, not simple surfactant emulsification alone.

Formulation Guidelines

Melt completely in the oil phase, typically around the melting range of the fatty-alcohol/fatty-acid blend, and combine with a water phase at compatible temperature. Homogenize sufficiently to create a fine emulsion, then control cooling and sweep mixing to promote uniform lamellar structure. Excessive cooling shock can generate graininess. Additional polymeric rheology modifiers may be used when greater suspension or high-temperature stability is required.

Compatibility & Stability

Monitor viscosity development over 24–72 hours, microscopy where available, graininess, phase separation, centrifuge stability, and heat/cool cycling. Lamellar systems often continue structuring after manufacture, so immediate viscosity is not the final value.

R&D, Scale-Up & Quality Control

R&D qualification of ProLipid 141-Type Lamellar Blend should include lamellar-blend melting behavior, appearance, and emulsion viscosity development. For manufacturing scale-up, define and control complete oil-phase melting, homogenization, sweep mixing, and controlled cooling rather than transferring only the ingredient percentages.

Packaging, Shipping & Storage

Supplied in a sealed aluminum pouch. Store tightly closed, cool, dry, and protected from heat and moisture.

Estimated Delivery: 10–15 Business Days
